The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/3/21. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations T J’s Deli Mart was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Prepackaged hot and cold sandwiches available for self-service are not labeled properly with the name of product, ingredient statement, and net weight. This is a repeat violation on previous inspections dated 9/14/16, 6/27/2018 and 6/4/2019, and 4/15/2020. Items pulled from self-service bar
- Observed inside of microwave with an accumulation of food and grease residue. Clean and sanitize microwave unit.
- Exposed food preparation observed in kitchen area under dirty ventilation ducts, and subject to potential contamination. Ducts were observed to have a buildup of dust. Clean vents to remove dust.
