The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/17/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations The Oreland Inn was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 9 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • (2 times repeat violation)No soap at kitchen hand wash sink. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal action.

  • (2 times repeat violation)No paper towels at kitchen hand wash sink. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal action.

  • Raw hamburger patties stored above condiments at bottom storage section of cold prep refrigerator in kitchen.

  • No date markings on sliced lunch meats or prepared sauces/lasagna. Use by date markings, no more than 7 days after opening or preparing foods, are required on ready-to-eat foods or prepared foods, held at the establishment for more than 24 hours and stored under refrigeration. Date marking information emailed to facility during inspection.

  • Spray bottles of cleaner stored on prep table in kitchen by slicer.

  • No ambient thermometer in walk-in refrigerator in basement.

  • (2 times repeat violation)High heat strips for dish machine are for 180F. Obtain 160F heat strips or a max/min registering thermometer for proper verification of final rise cycle temperature. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal action.

  • (2 times repeat violation)Ceiling of the basement walk-in refrigerator observed with patches of unfinished foam panels with foam spray material around patches. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal action.

  • (3 times repeat violation)Basement storage area ceiling lights and ceiling light in kitchen side storage room not shielded or shatter resistant. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal actions.
