The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/18/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Wimberly Mexican and Italian Grill was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 15 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • (2 times repeat violation) Mold-like growth observed in ice machine. Clean and sanitize in accordance with owner’s manual. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to legal action.
  • Multiple opened TCS dressings and condiments observed in produce refrigerator with internal temperatures of 53-60F. Facility voluntarily discarded 1 container of open mayonnaise, 4 containers of salad dressing labelled “refrigerate after opening”, and 1 container of salsa labelled “refrigerate after opening”.
  • (3 times repeat violation) Unlabeled chemical spray bottle stored in kitchen. Facility labelled spray bottle during inspection. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to legal action.
  • Facility observed storing spray bottle of degreaser directly adjacent to pans for dough. Facility relocated spray bottle during inspection.
  • 1 door reach-in produce refrigerator observed with an ambient temperature outside of an approved range – 54F. Facility must immediately stop use of unit for the storage of TCS foods. Facility may not use the unit in this manner until serviced by licensed professional, AND unit is operating at 41F or below, AND written permission is granted by MCOPH. E-mail service report to email provided. Facility has stated that it may opt to replace unit entirely. If facility chooses to replace unit, e-mail proof of purchase and replacement to e-mail provided. Failure to comply or await permission before using unit may lead to legal action.
  • Facility lacks easily visible ambient temperature thermometers in freezers throughout facility.
  • Facility observed using bowls or condiment cups lacking handles as scoops in bulk dry ingredient containers.
  • Interior of chest freezers observed with excessive ice accumulation.
  • Facility observed using wooden paintbrush as a basting utensil at prep refrigerator. Facility voluntarily discarded paintbrush during inspection.
  • Torn door gasket observed at 1 door reach-in produce refrigerator.
  • (3 times repeat violation) Excessive grease-like accumulation observed beneath cook’s line equipment. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to legal action.
  • Grease accumulation observed in hood system. EHS contacted Lansdale Fire Marshal during inspection.
  • Liquid accumulation observed beneath 2 door reach-in refrigerator at front service area.
  • Mop not hung or inverted to dry following use.
  • FRP installed beneath soda dispenser no longer adequately in place.
